Youth in Heritage

On March 26th, 2021, Heritage Foundation of Pakistan organized a digital exhibition of photographs that were taken by the youth along with line drawings on the completion of the ‘Youth in Heritage’ project, which was carried in collaboration with the British Council of Pakistan and the Government of Sindh.

The project was designed to involve the youth living near Makli Necropolis to allow the youth to develop a greater attachment to their Pakistani heritage through their involvement in photographic documentation of the patterns of Tomb of Mirza Jan Baba.

The event bought together around 40 women and youth of the Makli community, to celebrate the involvement of the 6 youth in the documentation process. The event started with an introduction of the 6-youth involved, followed by a presentation discussing the historical significance of Makli and the tomb of Mirza Jan Baba. The event showcased the photographs taken by youth and the respective drawings produced by HF. On the occasion, each of the 6 youths was interviewed about their experience. Everyone showed a great deal of enthusiasm for such projects to take place in the future and also shared the history of the Tomb that they learned through the process.

Drinks and refreshments were served to the attendees at the end of the event.
