Report on INTBAU Congress 27-29 November 2018

A successful two-day session of the INTBAU World Congress to research, educate, and engage as widely as possible on the value and relevance of traditional architecture and urban design was held recently at the Royal Society of Arts in London.

INTBAU (International Network for Traditional Building, Architecture and Urbanism) is a unique, established resource for global knowledge of traditional architecture and urban design. Their active network consists of individuals and institutions, who design, make, maintain, study, or enjoy traditional buildings and places.

As a preliminary to the Congress international delegates were invited the day before on 26^th November to leave London early in the morning and arrive in Poundbury, the Duchy of Cornwall land -- the pet project of the Prince of Wales and Duke of Cornwall, an ancient market town with a model urban extension -- five hours later. The guided tour of the quaint town culminated with HRH Prince Charles meeting the visiting delegates and giving them time one-on-one. Pakistan was represented by Heritage Foundation’s CEO Yasmeen Lari and Shanaz Ramzi, Hon. Vice-chair and trustee Heritage Foundation.
